Justin Timberlake Brings "SexyBack" And So Much More In Concert By Judy Sultan OnlineTickets.com
LAS VEGAS – In the words of Justin Timberlake, the reigning Prince of Pop, "What happens in Vegas, shouldn’t stay in Vegas. What happens in Vegas, EVERYONE should know about!"
"What happens in Birmingham, Alabama…that should stay in Birmingham, Alabama."
Justin Timberlake’s charismatic charm allures the audience from the moment he steps on stage. His magnetic presence electrifies the show with each kick, dip and pop of every dance step.
Pink opens for Justin Timberlake at every concert, and this evening in Las Vegas at promptly 8:00 pm, the lights go black. A spotlight shines in the corner of the lower seating area, and suddenly a woman with spikey, super short, platinum-colored hair runs toward the stage and pops up from the middle. With two athletic hip-hop dancers at her side, Pink hypes up the audience with songs from her new and old album. Wearing just a short black mini-skirt with gold trim and a black tank top and aviator sunglasses, Pink builds up the excitement with each of her songs.
Some highlights of Pink’s performance include songs from her newest album "I’m Not Dead." "Stupid Girls" is hilarious as her two dancers spoof Paris Hilton and other infamous "celebutantes" with their silly antics. Her hit single "U + Ur Hand," including "Who Knew" and "’Cuz I Can" gets the crowd jumping and singing along. Though Pink plays a lot of her new album, the catchy singles that impelled her to stardom are relived onstage with a lot of dancing and energetic appeal. Pink incorporates some of her old songs from her album "Mizunderstood" like "Get The Party Started" and "Just Like A Pill," which reminds listeners why we love Pink with her feisty beats and sassy vocals.
She slows the beat down with an old favorite, "Family Portrait," and a new politically charged song called "Dear Mr. President." With controversial lyrics like, "How do you sleep while the rest of us cry/How do you dream when a mother has no chance to say goodbye," Pink leaves the audience pensive and introspective of her feelings and its own before slipping into another rock infused rhythm.
Pink ends her hour-long performance with a surprising acrobatic/trapeze-like stunt from the center of the stage. Hoisted by a mechanical contraption with a pink sheet hanging from it, Pink wraps herself in it with two other dancers high above the stage in a Cirque du Soleil-like move.
After a 15-minute intermission, Justin Timberlake takes the stage jamming to the rock n’ roll techno-fied beat of "FutureSex/LoveSounds," the name of his tour, first track and title of his newest album:
Wait a second She's hopped up on me I've got her in my zone Her body's pressed up on me I think she's ready to blow Must be my future sex love sound
With incredible dance moves and pulsating beats, the tempo and rhythm of the concert stop only once to allow special guest producer Timbaland to pump up the crowd even more with an impressive 15-minute turntable presentation that alludes to pop culture and remixes almost every song he has produced, including songs by Aaliyah, Jay-Z, and Nelly Furtado. A small entourage of DJs on turntables accompany Timbaland at either side of the stage.
For the second part of Justin Timberlake’s concert, he slows it down a bit by channeling Alicia Keys and John Legend at the piano with "What Goes Around/Comes Aound" and "Losing My Way." Watching him play every instrument, from the keyboard, to the guitar, to the piano, makes one realize the true talent Justin Timberlake has as a performer.
According to several sources, "What Goes Around/Comes Around" was written about Britney Spears, but more popular sources agree that it was inspired by Justin Timberlake’s best friend Trace Ayala and his engagement to actress Elisha Cuthbert, who ended up cheating on him. You can decide:
It's breaking my heart to watch you run around 'Cause I know that you're living a lie That's okay baby 'cause in time you will find...
What goes around, goes around, goes around Comes all the way back around
Keeping the flow of the music, Justin Timberlake belts out the inspirational song "Losing My Way," which may exhibit an autobiographical-feel after he confirmed using drugs before in a magazine interview.
All in all, the Justin Timberlake concert is an event to remember and by far one of the best according to OnlineTickets.com. Pink and Timbaland also add that flavor that keeps you wanting more, even after leaving the concert.
