ON THE RECORD – Packers vs. Rams By Andrea de Vera OnlineTickets.com
ST. LOUIS – In NFL Week 15, the St. Louis Rams hosted the Green Bay Packers inside Edward Jones Dome Sunday.
Who Came, Saw, and Conquered: Even with the St. Louis Rams (3-11) out of the playoff picture and the Green Bay Packers clinching the NFC North title before kickoff, ageless wonder and record-setting extraordinaire, Brett Favre, managed to make big headlines as the Packers charged past the Rams 33-14.
Lookin’ Good: Packers QB Brett Favre
While Favre is genuinely prouder that his team secured a first-round bye with the win, Favre’s latest record-breaking achievement tends to stand out on a stat sheet. With 61,405 total passing yards throughout a stellar 17-year-career, a humble Favre has – ho hum – taken the crown as the NFL career leader in yards passing, moving ahead of Dolphin great Dan Marino.
Seen Better Days: Rams offensive line
Sidelined for the past two games with a concussion, Rams QB Marc Bulger has already missed significant time this season due to a rib injury. It didn’t help when a porous Rams offensive line allowed the Packers to sack Bulger four times on the day. If the Rams O-line fails to provide better pass protection, then expect Bulger’s struggles to continue.
Keep an Eye On: Packers upcoming schedule
With the Packers and Cowboys tied at 12-2 for the NFC’s best record, the race for home-field advantage throughout the NFC playoffs will only heat up in the next two weeks. Since the Cowboys own the head-to-head tiebreaker after beating the Packers in Week 13, the Packers cannot depend on a Cowboys loss but must take care of business in winnable games against the Chicago Bears and Detroit Lions instead.
Week 16 Watch: Washington Redskins (7-7) vs. Minnesota Vikings (8-6)
Two fellow NFC Wild Card hopefuls – the Redskins and Vikings – face off inside the Metrodome during a crucial match-up Sunday. Winners of five straight, the Vikings have a chance to dash the playoff dreams of the Redskins and Carolina Panthers with a win, but the ‘Skins – and even the 7-7 New Orleans Saints – have different plans in mind. Find out who’s hanging around and who’s eliminated from the Wild Card hunt in NFL Week 16.
