GETTING DEFENSIVE: Texans vs. Chargers

After a wildfire-ravaged and emotionally charged week for San Diego residents, the San Diego Chargers headed back home to Qualcomm Stadium to host the Houston Texans Sunday.

Who Came, Saw, and Conquered: The Chargers capped off a three-game winning streak with a 35-10 rout over the Texans. The 4-3 Chargers have bolted to the top of the AFC West, while the 3-5 Texans are sitting in last place in the tough AFC South.

Lookin’ Good: Chargers defense

While the Chargers offense accounted for three touchdowns, the Chargers big D held the Texans to just three points in the first half and created five turnovers through four quarters. CB Antonio Cromartie’s stellar outing on defense and special teams resulted in a fumble recovery for a TD and two interceptions – one of which was returned 70 yards for a TD.

Seen Better Days: Texans offense

Although the Texans topped the Chargers in total yards, time of possession, and first downs gained, the Texans four offensive turnovers were, well, offensive. What’s more, an already depleted Texans offense continued to suffer with QB Matt Schaub, C Mike Flanagan, TE Owen Daniels, and WR Andre Davis sustaining injuries during the game.

Keep an Eye On: Chargers RB LaDainian Tomlinson

During the Chargers’ three-game win streak, LaDainian Tomlinson has rushed for 355 yards and is looking like the 1,815-yard rusher and MVP winner he was last season. Currently, L.T.’s 617 total rush yards ranks fourth in the league behind Adrian Peterson, Willie Parker, and Willis McGahee.

Week 9 Watch: New England Patriots (8-0) v. Indianapolis Colts (7-0)

The Patriots and Colts – the top two teams in the NFL – will collide inside the RCA Dome for what could be a preview of the AFC Championship game. With the Pats and Colts running similar, high-powered offenses and combining for four Super Bowl titles in the last decade, this Week 9 match up and touted “Battle of the Unbeatens” is not only the game of the week but unquestionably the showdown of the season.
