Getting their start as a garage band to win a high school talent show, Alice Cooper quickly discovered that they needed to standout in the crowded music scene of the late 1960s. A freakish stage show involving gothic imagery was devised and quickly proved to be effective. Music maverick Frank Zappa was so impressed by Alice Cooper’s ability to freak out a crowd, that he signed them to a record deal.
After the first two albums failed to make much noise, Alice Cooper released Love it to Death in 1971. Coupled with the single “I’m Eighteen”, the album reached platinum status and made Alice Cooper superstars. Follow-up School’s Out and the corresponding single both threw Alice Cooper into the stratosphere of success. A third platinum album followed School’s Out, titled Killer. Killer is often thought of as Alice Cooper’s best work and had singles “Halo of Flies”, “Under My Wheels”, and “Be My Lover” all become hits and fan favorites.
The party continued for Alice Cooper into the 1980s and 90s. Welcome to my Nightmare was a landmark album and ballad “Only Women Bleed” set the standard for future ballads like “You and Me” and “I Never Cry”. 1989’s Trash carried hit single “Poison” and kept Alice Cooper in the mind of millions. Even in the lean years of the Grunge movement, Alice Cooper bucked trends and continued making critically acclaimed albums as his contemporaries faded into obscurity.
With a new album Along Came a Spider dropping in 2008, Alice Cooper is again bringing his traveling show of horrors on the road during a 2008 concert tour. Even in his 60s, Alice Cooper still knows how to shock fans worldwide, so order your Alice Cooper tickets from OnlineTickets.com today!
