When The Producers opened on Broadway in 2001, the refreshingly witty musical set new records with an astounding 12 Tony Awards and grossed more than $3 million on its opening day. Before long, The Producers had become a cultural phenomenon, and theater fans across America were flooding theaters to see this one-of-a-kind play.
The Producers opens with the premier of a new play, Funny Boy. However, the play is poorly received and producer Max Bialystock is dejected at his failure. In an effort to make money, the greedy producer partners with his accountant to raise money for a play that will cost significantly less. The partners produce and direct a play they are certain will flop, leaving the remainder of the unspent production money to them.
Surprisingly, the play succeeds and the producers are confronted with unexpected troubles. Audiences will roar with laughter as the two dumbstruck producers are faced with unprecedented twists and turns. Well-known songs such as “The King of Broadway” and “Prisoners of Love” will delight theater goers and have them cheering for more long after the curtains close. The original cast of Mathew Broderick and Nathan Lane has set a high standard for their unforgettable roles.
With 12 Tony Awards under its belt, The Producers is a must-see Broadway classic that’s perfect for the whole family. No Broadway experience can be complete without this comical play about the plight of two greedy producers. As The Producers tours the nation, order The Producers tickets from OnlineTickets.com!
