Part blues-rock, part glam metal, and part hard rock, Cinderella ruled the 1980s, hitting the big time after Jon Bon Jovi saw the band perform on the Empire Rock Club stage in Philadelphia. Shortly after, Cinderella exploded onto the music scene with the album Night Songs – an eventual triple-platinum seller – that spawned hits like Top 20 juggernaut “Nobody’s Fool” and the successful “Shake Me” and “Somebody Save Me.”
Soon Cinderella was in the studio recording their second chart-topping album Long Cold Winter, which marked Cinderella’s change in direction from the glam metal scene. Cinderella started producing tracks akin to Deep Purple and Humble Pie while still maintaining their Def Leppard sound, heard on singles “Don’t Know What You Got (Till It’s Gone)” and “The Last Mile.” To promote Long Cold Winter Cinderella toured with Ozzy Osbourne, Skid Row, Bon Jovi, and Scorpions.
Many fans hail Long Cold Winter as the definitive Cinderella album. Cinderella’s next albums followed in the tradition of Long Cold Winter by ditching the glam metal sound they were known for and picking up a new rock’n’roll sound which launched Cinderella’s career to new heights. Cinderella’s third album Heartbreak Station (1990) boasted blues-inspired material and since before Cinderella truly reemerged in 2006, touring with Poison to sell out crowds.
After selling well over 18 million albums worldwide, Cinderella – still sticking to the same formula – has announced a 2008 summer tour with fellow ‘80s greats Warrant, Lynch Mob, and Lynman.
