The British rockers Def Leppard are one of the front-runners of the rock music world with their mixture of hard rock, glam rock, and heavy metal sounds. Def Leppard drummer Rick Allen suffered a horrifying car accident in 1984, costing him his left arm, yet he persevered and helped craft what was to become a breakthrough in drum technology – a drum-kit which utilized legs as well as arms. Producer Robert John “Mutt” Lange worked with the members of Def Leppard to create a futuristic sound incorporated with heavy metal elements, which greatly contributed to Def Leppard’s worldwide success.
