After wrapping up the season with a 34-48 record and uncharacteristically missing the playoffs, the New Jersey Nets are headed in a new direction this season. With Jason Kidd back in Texas, Richard Jefferson off to the Milwaukee Bucks, and standout player Bostjan Nachbar hopping over to Russia during the NBA offseason, the New Jersey Nets welcome a roster filled with new faces and exciting possibilities.
Seasoned veteran Vince Carter returns to the Nets backcourt and will lead a young nucleus of players. In his first full season with the Nets, Devin Harris will run the Nets’ fast-paced offense. Fresh from the Orlando Magic, Keyon Dooling joins the New Jersey Nets and will provide experience, defensive tenacity, and solid shooting at the guard position. Yi Jianlian and Eduardo Najera are ready to fill the void in the front court left by Richard Jefferson.
As Coach Lawrence Frank continues to tweak the line up and find the most successful combinations, the New Jersey Nets will look to stay competitive in the Atlantic Division. Atlantic Division rivals such as the Boston Celtics, Toronto Raptors, Philadelphia 76ers, and New York Knicks will surely test the Nets over the course of the season, but teams will need to look out for the retooled and revamped Nets.
