Danny Gans - Growing Up

With childhood aspirations of becoming a professional baseball player, American-born Danny Gans was well on his way to living out his dream – the MLB Kansas City Royals drafted Danny Gans after high school and the Chicago White Sox pursued Danny Gans after college. Soon after, Danny Gans was signed to a minor-league contract en route to becoming a professional athlete with the Los Angeles Dodgers – Danny Gans’ dream team. However, a career-ending Achilles-tendon injury forced Danny Gans to seek a different career path – a path that lead to comedy and a chance to shine on stage rather than in the diamond.

As a contemporary Christian, Danny Gans soon found that his Christian beliefs clashed with the comedy circuit. Thus, Danny Gans turned to acting and made guest appearances on television shows, commercials, and even on the 1988 film Bull Durham, where Danny Gans played a third baseman for the Durham Bulls. One day, Danny Gans became especially inspired by Sammy Davis Jr., and decided to try out a career as a variety performer – entertaining audiences with singing, jokes, and impressions to boot. In 1995, Danny Gans took his one-man show to Broadway. Between performing 200 dates per year and his wife and three children living in Los Angeles, Danny Gans decided to move to Las Vegas to be closer to his family.
